Do you fear the scale?
One thing that nearly all of my clients experience is the fear of the scale moving up, especially when they’re actively trying to lose weight and see that number go down.
Have you ever been in this situation? Where you’re working hard on a plan and doing everything right, and then boom. You step on the scale and your weight went UP instead of down.
This can be a time when you lose motivation, determine your plan isn’t working, and then quit.
Well it turns out these types of changes are 10000% normal due to water weight fluctuations in our bodies.
After working with dozens of clients 1:1, I have NEVER seen anyone whose numbers go down every single time they weigh in, just like a straight line.
Nope. Every single of them will see the scale go up and down, but clearly in a downward trending pattern when our goal is weight loss.
The regular changes in our weight (aside from fat loss or fat gain) come from changes in food volume, how much water intake we’ve had, how much waste we have in our body, and even how much we recently sweat.
There’s a lot going on, so if you weigh in on Mondays and Fridays, don’t expect the number to always go down.
Instead, look at your weight over the course of a 2 week period and see what direction it’s trending in.
I recently made a fun Instagram video on this that you should check out which goes over this topic!
Remember, everyone I have ever worked with who has lost 20-30+lbs constantly has days where they hit a new low, followed by a weigh-in where the scale moves back up.
But the key for their success has been in realizing this is NORMAL, and not a reason to give up or quit.
As they maintain what they’re doing, the water weight shifts and adjusts and they soon see a new low.
So keep it up, and don’t be afraid of the scale!!
Much love,
Coach Bryan
